Accessibility statement

Muzej Velenje (Velenje Museum) is committed to making its website accessible in accordance with the Act on the Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications (ZDSMA; Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 30/18, 95/21 – ZInfV-A, 189/21 – ZDU-1M and 18/23 – ZDU-1O), which transposes Directive (EU) 2016/2102 into Slovenian law.

This accessibility statement applies to the website https://muzej-velenje.si/, including its English, German and Italian language versions.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the requirements of the ZDSMA, the harmonised standard EN 301 549 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, due to the exceptions and non-accessible content listed below.

Accessibility features of the website

Skip to content and Skip to main menu links at the start of every page (shown when navigating with the keyboard),
full keyboard navigation with a clearly visible focus indicator,
labelled page regions (header, main menu, main content, footer) for screen-reader users,
alternative text (alt) for images, logos and image links,
text colour contrast of at least 4.5 : 1,
content can be zoomed on mobile devices and in the browser,
responsive layout adapted to different screen sizes,
a toolbar for display adjustments (font size, contrast, spacing, dark mode),
clear and consistent heading structure and meaningfully worded links,
information on the physical accessibility of the museum and its units (in Slovenian).

Easy-to-read information

The home page has an Easy-to-read information button that opens the guide Muzej Velenje – easy-to-read information (PDF, in Slovenian) with basic information about the museum in easy-to-read format: address, opening hours and admission; how to get to the museum; contact details; a description of Velenje Castle and of the exhibitions inside and outside the castle. A printed copy is also available at the museum entrance.

Non-accessible content

Despite our efforts, some content is not yet fully accessible. It is listed below together with the reason and, where available, an accessible alternative.

Non-compliance with the ZDSMA

PDF documents (annual reports, price lists, exhibition catalogues, invitations, brochures): most published documents are not prepared as accessible PDFs (no tagged structure, alternative text or document language). New documents are being prepared in accessible form; for older documents we can provide the content in an accessible format on request. (WCAG 1.1.1, 1.3.1, 4.1.2)
Photographs in galleries and visual material: some photographs have only a generic or automatically generated description; detailed descriptions of museum objects and photographs are being added. (WCAG 1.1.1)
Video and audio content (embedded videos, podcasts): no captions, transcripts or audio description. (WCAG 1.2.1, 1.2.2, 1.2.3, 1.2.5)
360° virtual tours and interactive publications (3D page-flip): third-party interactive viewers are not fully operable with a keyboard or screen readers. Alternative: text descriptions of the exhibitions on the pages of the individual museum units, and publications as PDF or on request. (WCAG 2.1.1, 4.1.2)
Embedded maps (Google Maps): the interactive map is not accessible to screen readers. Alternative: addresses and directions are given in the text next to the map and on the Information page.
Heading structure in news and event listings: in some automatically generated listings the heading levels are not sequential. (WCAG 1.3.1)
Some older posts may contain links without descriptive text or text with insufficient contrast; such errors are corrected during regular reviews.

Disproportionate burden

Retroactively converting the entire archive of PDF documents and photographic material (more than 2,000 images and 40 documents published before this statement was prepared) into fully accessible form would constitute a disproportionate burden for the museum within the meaning of Article 6 of the ZDSMA. The content of an individual document or a description of the material will be provided in an accessible form on request (see Feedback and contact information).

Content outside the scope of the applicable legislation

pre-recorded time-based media (video, audio) published before 23 September 2020,
office file formats (PDF and similar) published before 23 September 2018 that are not needed for active administrative processes,
third-party content that is neither funded nor developed by, nor under the control of, the museum (e.g. embedded social-media content, the newsletter sign-up service, maps),
archived content that has not been updated since 23 September 2019 and is not needed for active processes.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 3 September 2026 on the basis of a self-assessment carried out by the museum together with the website provider. The assessment comprised:

automated testing of 90 representative pages (all static pages, a sample of posts, events and language versions) with the axe-core tool against WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 criteria at levels A and AA,
manual testing of keyboard navigation, focus visibility, page regions, alternative text, colour contrast and embedded content.

The website was last reviewed on 3 September 2026. This statement was last updated on 3 September 2026. The statement is reviewed and updated at least once a year and whenever the website changes significantly.
