The permanent exhibition of the Memorial Centre 1991 presents the Šaleška and Upper Savinja valleys in the process of Slovenian independence. It is the result of close cooperation between the Velenje Museum and almost all veteran and patriotic organisations in the Šaleška and Upper Savinja valleys, the Municipality of Velenje, the Military Museum of the Slovenian Armed Forces, the Museum of the Slovenian Police and other institutions and organisations, as well as numerous individuals who actively participated in the collection and preparation of the material and made a significant contribution to its final appearance.
The museum’s presentation is divided into two parts, separated and connected by the period of the plebiscite, which marks the end of an era and the beginning of a new one – the establishment of Slovenian state sovereignty.

Velenje Museum at Velenje Castle

Summer working hours (1 April–31 October):
Open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 AM to 6 PM.
In July and August open from Monday to Sunday from 10 AM to 6 PM.

Closed on Mondays.

Winter working hours (1 November–31 March):

Open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 AM to 5 PM.

Closed on Mondays.

Shortened working hours: December 24th and December 31st: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
