Memorial room "Topolšica on 9th May 1945"
In the building of the thermal park in Topolšica, there is a memorial room which presents partial German capitulation of the army Group E and German forces for the South-Eastern Europe. It was signed by Alexander Löhr. The memorial room has been arranged in such manner that it is accessible 24 hours a day. You can see a short movie about the events in these places in May 1945 by pressing a button. In addition to that the room includes a reconstruction of the event of signing the capitulation, which was one of the most important events on this territory during World War II. One of the peculiarities of the collection is general Löhr’s pistol, which was confiscated by Ivan Dolničar just a few days after signing the capitulation. The pistol is exhibited in the middle of a glass cube, symbolising the captivity of weapons and reluctance against their meaningless use.
